Wow that was a harsh blow. I'm feeling really discouraged and apathetic after Seattle. Dr. Nath said that my shoulder would remain a long term problem and the only real solution was a shoulder fusion :( Also he said that the phrenic nerve transfer is not effective. Here is what He would do:
1) A 20% median nerve transfer to the bicep
2) Intercostal nerve transfer to the tricep
3) Maybe a spinal accessory nerve transfer to the deltoid but probably not
Well Jo and Ky's rehearsal dinner is tonight and their wedding is tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have a good time there.
Damn.
ReplyDeleteKeep your chin up, you.
And do me a favor and have a rippin' time at the wedding, ok?
Miss you!
Joel
ReplyDeleteDid Dr. Nath agree with your treatment plan up until this point? He didn't mention anything that any of the doctors might have missed, or mis-treated right?
Both Dr.Solomon and Dr. Nath both though that I should have had surgery 1-2 months earlier. Dr. McKinnon who eventually did the surgery (see up coming blog post) thought the same thing.
ReplyDeleteIdeally if you are going to have surgery it should be done 2-3 months after the injury. I had mine done 5 months
